Evaluation week!! Baseball & Softball, Wauconda High School

. As we prepare for the 2019 season, we would like to announce the player evaluation schedule and associated information. All registered baseball players in Mustang (10U), Bronco (12U) and Pony (14U) are required to participate in a skill evaluation. Softball players at the 10U, 12U, and 14u levels are also required to participate in an evaluation.

Purpose: The purpose of player evaluation is to measure and assess player skill set in an effort to create (draft) teams that have a fair distribution of talent. The league will make every effort to institute parity across teams within each base‐ ball and softball division or age group level.
Location: Evaluations are conducted at Wauconda High School, 555 N Main St, Wauconda, IL 60084. Please enter the school through the entrance marked Main Entry. Parents must have picture identification to enter the school.
Softball:
Monday 3.18 is 10u (and any 8's only if wanting to try and play up)
 Wednesday 3.20 is 12 and 14u
Baseball
Tuesday 3.19 is Mustang (10u), and potentially any 8u Pinto's (TBD)
Thursday 3.21 is Bronco, Pony (12.14u)
Shetland does not need to evaluate, nor does 8u softball (unless wanting to try out for 10u)
Equipment: Players are requested at minimum to bring a glove (mitt) and bat to the evaluation. Batting helmets will be provided. Players may use their own batting helmet if they prefer. It is recommended that players wear comfortable athletic apparel and gym shoes.  No cleats are permitted inside the high school
Time: All players and parents are to report to the pre‐evaluation meeting at 7:15PM. Players and parents will congregate in the lounge or café adjacent to auxiliary gym 1.  Evaluation will be conducted in the gym from 7:30PM to 8:45 PM.
Evaluation: Players will be evaluated on measurable aspects of pitching, hitting, fielding ground balls, fielding fly balls, and run speed. Associated technique with each activity will also be considered. The evaluation process will be explained and evaluators introduced at the pre‐evaluation meeting. Pinto (8U) baseball players will be receiving an email communication in the near future to gauge interest in creating an all star team which is strictly optional.
